This course provides an exploration of the rich and diverse history of Hispanic Church and tradition, focusing on its origins, development, and influence within the broader Christian tradition.

Students will examine the roles of Hispanic leaders, movements, and communities in shaping church history across different regions and time periods, with particular attention to their theological, cultural, and social contributions.

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  • Demonstrate acquaintance with the broader heritage of the Christian tradition, as well as the specific character and contribution of particular Christian traditions and communities.

  • Explore the cultural, social, and political contexts that shaped the development of the Hispanic Church.

  • Discuss the intersection of faith and cultural identity within Hispanic Church communities.

  • Reflect on the significance of Hispanic Church history in understanding contemporary issues in Christianity and society.

  • Understand the distinctive theological perspectives in Hispanic Church traditions and how they developed in history.
