Masters Degree in Social Work and Theological Studies/Divinity

NES has a dual degree program with the Master of Social Work program at Roberts Wesleyan College. Qualified students may complete either the M.Div. or the M.A. and the MSW degree in a time-shortened manner. This is an exceptional program for individuals considering a social work ministry in a church or faith-based setting. Click here for more information on the Roberts' accredited MSW program. Students must apply and be accepted to both institutions.

Overview:

Dual-degree students pursuing an M.Div. will be expected to complete all the requirements for the MSW degree plus 68 required hours of the M.Div. program or 44 for the M.A. program. Thirty (27-30) credits of MSW courses will be substituted for the self-selected studies requirement.  For dual-degree students pursuing an M.A. 44 hours are required in addition to completing all requirements for the MSW degree. Persons interested in a dual-degree program must apply to each program individually. (This option is also available for the M.A. program.)

Full-time students attend NES for 2.5 years for M.A. or 3.5 years for M.Div. degree then RWC for 1.5-2 years for MSW dependent on admissions status and baccalaureate degree.

Requirements:

  • Have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Complete the application process.
  • Demonstrate readiness for graduate-level academic work and be approved by the seminary admissions committee.
  • Apply separately to Roberts Wesleyan College for the MSW program.
  • For students with a qualified Bachelors of Social Work degree an advanced standing option is available which has the potential of shortening the time to completion.
