At Northeastern Seminary I was able to connect with classmates from different geographical locations and see how our heart beats for the same mission. Although we are in different denominations, different walks of life, and different contexts of ministry, we all share a common heart to see our world revived in Christ.

Many of us first are first taught that we are sinful and thus undeserving of God’s generous forgiveness and love - because we start the story with Genesis 3. But there is another theological stream that begins to tell the story of salvation from a different starting point- Genesis 1-2. It roots an understanding of human nature not first in 'the Fall,' but first in being created in the image of God and being declared by God to be 'very good.'

Rebecca Letterman, Being Human Course

To know these Scriptures well we must understand the context in which they were composed. This is true not only of the popular books of the Bible, but also for the parts of the Bible that are often ignored. Understanding the major themes and sections will speak to their relevancy for ministry in the 21st century and open up the whole Bible as a resource for ministry and spiritual formation.

David Carr, Being in the Word Course

His (Christ's) appearance in our midst has made it undeniably clear that changing the human heart and changing human society are not separate tasks, but are as interconnected as the two beams of the cross.”
