with Ruth Haley Barton
ALL TOO OFTEN in the press of ministry our connection to God begins to slip away. A sense of depletion can grow as we pour out everything to others. What was a joyful, passionate pursuit to share in the mission of God erodes away and we realize our own spiritual practices are missing.
For pastors and lay leaders alike this conference challenges us to meet God in the context of our ministry issues.
Plenary sessions explore:
- The symptoms and sources of our depletion
- Learning how to rest in God-coming home to ourselves in God's presence
- Establishing spiritual rhythms that facilitate encounters with God
- Leading from a transforming self
- Spirituality in the early Christian Church
- Disciplines for the non-contemplative personality
- Spirituality and social justice
- Liturgical expressions of spiritual disciplines
- The family and spiritual disciplines
