Northeastern Seminary Receives $2 Million Anonymous Gift
Northeastern Seminary at Roberts Wesleyan College has received an anonymous donation of $2 million, RWC/NES President Dr. John A. Martin announced on May 15th at the school's annual donors banquet. The gift coincides with the retirement of the founding dean of the decade-old theological school, Dr. Wayne McCown and his wife, Dr. Darlene McCown, who retired as director of the Roberts Wesleyan Health Center and adjunct professor at the seminary. The funds represent the largest-ever contribution to Northeastern Seminary and will be used to establish the Wayne and Darlene McCown Chair in Biblical Studies, beginning in the fall 2008. In a citation read at the banquet, the anonymous donor expressed "great pleasure to honor Wayne McCown for (his) brilliant and inspired leadership ... and to recognize the vital role of Darlene McCown, who has added her wisdom, generosity and compassion to enhance the success of their combined ministry." The McCowns retired on June 30th. Dr. Jack Connell became the Vice President at NES effective July 1, 2008.
